Rollcage remake using Unreal 4, unsurprisingly made by one of the original dev member who also did Rollcage Redux & Extreme patches.
Rest in peace Ridge Racer franchise, 1993-2012. Never forget, never forgive.

The game's now on Kickstarter.

I appreciate how despite the game and its predecessors having a strong combat element, they're still including a time trial mode with ghosts for people like me who care more for the time attack element. There's even a stretch goal for a gameplay mode called Precision that's about time attacking a point-to-point track. To me, that sounds awesome.

Their goal of $500,000 feels quite high, though. In comparison, the other titles in this arcade racing game revival we're having had much lower KS goals (Drift Stage $30k, Power Drive 2000 $45k, The 90's Arcade Racer $10k, Formula Fusion £35k). Not one of them collected over $100k. Guess we'll see how it goes for GRIP.

I backed it but I have serious doubts about whether it'll reach its goal. Rollcage doesn't exactly have the same cachet as Wipeout, and Formula Fusion didn't become a runaway Kickstarter success story despite being a spiritual successor to the latter.

The devs decided to end it honorably when they saw that the game just wasn't going to reach the goal, and ended the KS project prematurely. But they're going to launch the game on Steam Early Access "no later than November 30th 2015". But to accomplish this, they're hoping people will pre-order/support the game on their website.

I think I might pre-order. Anybody else?
