How Pseudo 3d Racers Work

Postby louisg » Thu Jul 31, 2014 8:33 pm

Hi! I'm the author of Lou's Pseudo 3d Page, which is all about how old racing games worked. I did research over a number of years (on and off, of course), talked with a couple game authors, and put together a lot of info about the subject. It'd be mostly interesting I think for programmers, but I also think there's a lot of neat general info there too.

Great site, and a great guy. I did a little pseudo 3D prototyping last summer and Lou was a great help. Anyone with interest in how Outrun works should check it out.

Thanks! I'm glad I was able to help. I try to answer e-mails but sometimes I get really busy and they fall through the cracks.

Awesome! Have you played Motoracer Advance? On real hardware, I think it's among the most impressive ones (complete with the streets of San Francisco). Whether it's THAT good engineering, or just really good art, the effect is breath-taking.
