Ow. My fingers are all stiff from the marathon Drift Stage-ing I just did. And I still didn't beat the Expert ghost.

I beat the Expert ghost. I'm sure I can still shave off more time.

I can still do a bit better. Not sure if I can break into the 1:18 realm, but 1:19.2 should at least be possible.

Nice! I'm eager to see how far you'll push it.

I did 45 minutes of non-stop Drift Stageing and managed to get my time down to 01:19.313

I use a normal Xbox 360 controller.

@Ruldra: Heh, that's funny. How'd you manage that? I've played the alpha quite a lot now and I haven't run into any bugs like that.

Xbox360 wireless controller

I also found that if you turn left into the wall in a right hand turn the car pops into the opposite direction, and theres nothing that indicates that youre going the wrong way?

Keyboard here.

I did a 180 and was driving up the last corner while grinding along the outer wall. At some point the car clipped through the wall and all sort of weird things started to happen.

I was behind by two car lengths from my previous PB until the very last corner when I unexpectedly overtook. 1:18 is within an arm's reach...

Beat the expert ghost! I really appreciate how competitive he is, makes you really push yourself to do the best lap possible.

And that's a great laptime Ghegs! I have no idea how to get even close to that.

Can anyone replicate what the expert ghost does in turn 1? Seems like it initiates the drift really late. If I try that I hit the outsite wall. I'm always ahead from the start by a cars length but after turn 1 the ghost is ahead?

Unnngh, so close.

Ghegs & 01:19.035

@1up: I don't think the Expert ghost does anything odd there, it's possible to start the drift even later there and still clear the corner. It's important to be steering into the corner before you initiate the drift, try to get your right front tire into the inside lane for a moment while still driving normally, then start the drift and push the analog stick right all the way.

@Ruldra: Thanks! But the best time I've seen online is this absolutely bonkers 01:18.566.

Watching that video clip, turns out it's entirely possible to do the 2nd corner at full speed. Didn't realize it before but that corner has a late apex so you need to stay on the outside lane during entry. Still a bit tough to pull it off but good to know it's doable.

And I think you can do the same on the 5th corner. That one always gives me trouble and it's where I'm losing most time.

There we go!

Ghegs & 01:18.935

Glad I broke the 1:18 barrier, not sure how much more improvement I've got in me. The current WR looks to be 1:18.448 and I have no idea how this and that other guy take some of the corners so sharply.

EDIT: HOLD THE PHONE. I just did some testing because I couldn't figure how those guys get their cars turning so tightly, and I figured it out.

They use the d-pad, or digital controls otherwise. On my first try with a d-pad I managed to clear the second corner considerably faster than with the analog stick I've been using so far. D-pad turns faster.

EDIT2: The inputs stack, you can use both d-pad and analog stick to grip through most corners and drift through the few remaining once with high speed. With this you can reach times far beyond the current WR.

Locking this thread so we can reboot the time attack using the game's latest alpha version 0.1.1. which fixes the input stacking issues. Go here!
