Some new gameplay footage. From the track design I see some Sonic All-Stars, Daytona, Scud Racer and Outrunnners. I think the tire smoke is a bit much though.

Looks really promising, indeed. And you can just barely spot the Rolling Start!! banner at 0:03 on the right side of the track - the URL is hidden by the wall of tyres, unfortunately.

It might show up more visible on other tracks?

Yeah, hopefully - and rewatching the video I noticed it's also completely visible on the left side at 0:08. :D

The track starting at 2:13 has kind of a Virtua Racing feel to it, I think. At first I thought the track graphics were just placeholders since they looked so "inferior" compared to the earlier stuff in the video, but if you think of the whole track as a Virtua Racing tribute, they would fit perfectly.

The other tracks look to have really good production values, really brings to mind the arcade racers of yesteryear, even more than Drift Stage. It's looking to be a very good year for the genre.

It's starting to look really, really good. The latest backer update says the game will still be out this year, and it will have nine tracks.

The rev/gear meter looks straight from Daytona USA, I wonder if the handling and drift mechanics will be similar as well.

From watching that video the drifting looked like Outrun 2, but he did slow down a lot to initiate those drifts. I thought it had an interesting selection of cars and they really nailed the Sega color palette.

The Kids room gave me flashbacks to early Counter Strike mod maps

I heard the dev ditched the PC and Wii U version in favor of PS4 and Xbone, can anyone confirm this rumor?

That's the rumor that's been going around in some places, but I think it's unsubstantiated as of now. The Kickstarter was especially for PC and Wii U, that they'd drop either, especially the PC one, makes little to no sense.

I think it's just very poor communication from the dev's/publisher's part.

Well shit, just as I expected
... Because we just learned that the game would be canceled on Wii U and PC to release on Xbox One and PS4 under the name 90s Super GP

This suddenly became a larger kickstarter failure than Mighty No. 9.

It makes zero sense to cancel the PC version, what's their source on this? That article was posted on 11th of May, were they just reporting the rumors? Nicalis' own tweet just a few weeks back had the hashtag #Steam in it.

initial kickstarter was on Wii U so I believe that the earlier backers were Wii U owners. Now they got shafted

Back in November, I wrote a reader submission about the fate of the game.

I've always wanted to do that anyways since the fate of the game went murky.

I'm guessing you wrote only the part in italics? I don't personally agree with the "PGR4 and Forza Motorsport 2 are better than Sega Rally Revo because they have more content" -bit. More content doesn't make a game better by itself, it just makes it have more stuff. How Revo ranks as a game is another topic entirely...

If Nicalis is indeed sitting on the game, waiting for the right moment to publish it to make a bit of extra cash, it'd have to be now or soon-ish. Daytona USA 3 is coming up, people are interested, they remember the good ol' days...and here comes a game that's similar, and it would available to play right now and not exclusive to arcades.

That steamdb.info page Thunderer posted still shows regular updates, the last one was just 17 hours ago. But I don't know what those actually mean.

Since I am not the author of the blog, and the blog accepts submissions from readers like me, yes, only the italics stuff are written by me. I kinda agree with the content stuff you said though.

This came up on NeoGaf recently. It appears that the creater sold the publishing rights to Nicali and they're doing jack shit. Been like that for a while.

Apparantly the creator is trying to buy the rights back.

Oh, wow. It might actually still happen.

I actually heard that the dev was trying to get the game's rights back from Nicalis. The game itself has been completed for a long time, but Nicalis has just been sitting on it for whatever reason. Maybe this prompted Nicalis to get on with it, finally?

Nicalis has a new page for the game, and in one of the screenshots you can just make out the Rolling Start banner behind an inconveniently placed red square.
