More like non-Forza/GT simcades still being advertised as serious sims all right (especially Project Cars 2 because 80% of their budget always goes to advertising).

Serious sims is still currently being monopolised by iRacing as rFactor 2 is dead on arrival, Automobillista is nothing but a bunch of empty premises, GTR 3 is eternally a vaporware and nobody cares about RaceRoom. And codies being world's biggest Ecclestone's shill as always they ever been

Never as long as they keep insisting to monopolize the arcade racing scene.

It's Armored Core meets racing, the mecha-tastic combat racer Break Arts II gets a new trailer:

youtu.be/ZEMaNjBhmgE

As well as a release date: Feb 9th with a price of $14.99.

This might win the crown for the most customization options in any racing game ever, if nothing else.

Something I just noticed watching this trailer - usually in futuristic combat racers (Wipeout, Rollcage/GRIP, etc) the tracks are fairly short (lap times ~20 seconds or even less) in order to keep the players close together so that the combat elements are useful. Here the tracks seem considerably longer. I'm curious to see how that'll work out.

Interesting, at 1:45 timestamp it's as if the mecha's facing backward while moving forward at full speed.

So that Nintendo Labo thing. Build accessories for the Switch and its controllers using cardboard. One of those included is a motorbike accessory, and it comes with a game to use it with. You can see bits of it in these videos:

Kind of cool. But damn if that wouldn't make for great ports of Hang-On and Super Hang-On.

Break Arts II now available

I'll probably pick it up on the weekend, unless some really scathing reviews come forth.

I'll wait for your thoughts on it before buying, then, I still have high doubts about the gameplay :P

Oh my!

Yes, that would be the thing that finally makes me pick up a Switch, assuming the game is competent, of course.

It'll be developed by Bandai Namco Singapore who's currently co-developing Ace Combat 7. If and only if Ace Combat 7 doesn't flop (which I'm VERY SKEPTICAL of thanks to it's highly disappointing showing last year, pathetic marketing effort and still being stuck in a development hell with no new information came out since last year's TGS - although Project Aces are to blame for most of these issues, really) that everyone should safely rejoice.

On the bright side RR8 being a Switch exclusive means it's more or less free from being shoehorned with VR gimmick to the point the base game itself is completely shafted just like what happened to Ace Combat 7, in which 80% of the marketing goes for the PS4 exclusive VR version.

I got it this morning, though I didn't get to give it a crack until this afternoon. It's incredibly buggy, so far - that's my take away. I changed the resolution and now the game displays in ultra-wide, with no way to fix it to my monitors native refresh. The tutorials get stuck on the screen, and the controls can't be changed. But hey, at least the customization works flawlessly, right? :P

I won't touch it again until it gets patched up, because it quite literally is unplayable at times for me. Your mileage may vary, but just be warned, it's definitely unfinished. Even calling it a Beta would be stretching it :(

Ah, that's a shame, thanks for the heads-up. I guess I'll hold off for a while and keep my eye on it.

The racing gameplay seems to be very mediocre with extremely unbalanced CPU players. Seems there's no point getting it unless the devs have fixed everything.

From what little the game has allowed me to played of it, the racing is quite fun. It's not your typical racer at all, so if you go into it expecting to get lost in the racing mechanics, you'll surely come out disappointed on the other end. With that being said, Break Arts II is definitely its own thing... I just wish the game would let me play it!

There's been two updates to Break Arts II already, the latest of which rebalanced the AI drivers. They also mention that customizable controls are coming in a future update.

It's a fun Full Auto clone like it's ever been since 2010's.
