ePsxe road texture issue

Postby FIL » Mon Mar 06, 2017 4:33 pm

Hey guys I've always had a problem with racing games in epsxe that i've never been able to fix no matter which combination of plugins and settings I've tried.

Towards the horizon I get big gaps in the road textures that flicker and annoy me. The screenshot below is from Penny Racers but it happens in most racers. I've had this problem across a couple of PCs too but never been able to find a solution. It's not the easiest thing to capture in a screenshot sadly but in motion it's really noticeable.

I've tried opengl,d3d and software plugins, all kinds of compatibility and texture filtering settings and nothing seems to make any difference. Any ideas?

Does this happen with other emulators as well?

I'm trying to get my head around running Retroarch to see if I get that issue there.

EDIT: Couldn't get Penny Racers running in Retroarch but I tried something else and the problem exists in that emulator too. Maybe it's just a Playstation emulation thing all round.

Try PCSXR-PGXP. I just tested it (never played the game before) and it doesn't have any of these black lines.

My settings if they're of any use:
